How does it work?

You will be given four powerful phrases called Ascension Attitudes. These Attitudes are used to redirect our attention away from limited and biased thoughts. So rather than dwelling on thoughts, which inhibit full mental and physical functioning, we easily and effortlessly redirect our minds to our deepest, truest nature.

Why would I want to do it? What are the results/ benefits?

The answer depends on what you want.
  • In general, life will get better with the help of the Ishayas' Ascension. By focusing on appreciation, gratitude, and love, we experience satisfaction in our lives and peace of mind. Many people experience significant mental and emotional healing. Ascension meets us where we are and gives us what we need. It is not possible to “outgrow” this teaching. As our experience of life changes, using these same effortless techniques reveals new aspects of the same simple Truth.
  • If you want to improve as a pragmatic businessperson, the Ishayas’ Ascension leads to a natural clarity of purpose and mind. It improves your awareness of context, keeping you responsive to changing circumstances. It systematically eliminates unconscious biases and emotional conditioning – leaving your mind free and clear enough to respond to each situation appropriately rather than reactively based on old, false internal programs.
  • If you are a spiritual seeker, the Ishayas’ Ascension is a profoundly quick, powerful, and effortless way to delve into the Eternal and systematically eliminate the paper-dragons that keep us from experiencing the Eternal, at the deepest levels, 100% of the time. By practicing Ascension, we repeatedly – eyes open and eyes closed – expose ourselves to our truest nature, eventually making it impossible to continue to deny this reality and thus setting us free.

Is this a type of meditation?

The Ishayas' Ascension could be described as a combination of contemplative prayer and meditation. It is a tool that can be used throughout the day. We spend some time with our eyes closed, like many meditations, but we also use it with the eyes open, as we actively participate in life. The goal of Ascension is not to produce a quiet mind or to go into some "deep peaceful meditative state". This may happen sometimes, but more so, the technique works to free us from mental habits that bind us so we can live in freedom as we were truly meant to live.

I heard there are more Attitudes. Why is that?

When you complete the First Sphere, you have everything you need to receive all the benefits of the Ishayas’ Ascension. That said, our minds have become very busy (thinking 80,000-100,000 thoughts per day), our attention spans have shortened, and some of our stresses are very deeply entrenched. Since the mind likes variety and Ascension is constructed in a way that is pleasing to the mind, we have 27 Attitudes. The construction of the attitudes beyond the First Sphere is very similar to the First Sphere, with the only difference being that they are designed to unwind specific areas of stress whereas the First Sphere targets universal areas of stress found in the modern world. So, the additional attitudes give your mind additional variety and provide other angles for removing deeply entrenched stress. But there is no benefit that can be had from the advanced attitudes that cannot be had by innocently and effortlessly using the First Sphere, as taught, on a regular basis – they are simply more tools that are available.

(From MSI's writings--As such, even the first of the twenty-seven Ascension Attitudes is sufficient to liberate any human being fully. The advantage of having more than one tool in the tool chest is that the mind sometimes tricks itself into activating slower loops. This happens primarily because of past desires and beliefs that life is or should be difficult and/or painful. Having more than one Ascension Attitude is like an insurance policy. If the force of ancient habit is too deeply entrenched (and for most in this modern world, it seems to be), more than one angle of Ascension will be required.)

Do I have to take other courses?

Once you've taken the First Sphere, you have the Ascension Attitudes to use on your own. Your regular use of the technique is what will bring great benefits. If you would like to attend more courses, receive additional Attitudes, or meet with others to use the technique together, it's your choice. Many people find it helpful to meet with others, share experiences and stay connected. After repeating a course or going on a retreat, people report having a new profound deepening of their experience. We do encourage you to repeat the First Sphere because as your limiting conditioning falls away, you may hear the instruction in a new light. Once you have completed a First Sphere, you are invited to repeat the class anytime anywhere one is held, at no charge.

Is this a religion?

No. There is no scripture, doctrine, church or religion that the Ishayas' Ascension is affiliated with. Also there is no requirement or desire that you believe in anything or anyone. The Ishayas' Ascension is an ancient technique that assists us in living life to it's fullest. The technique is based on appreciation, gratitude, and love and can be used by anyone. People of many different religious, political and cultural backgrounds, as well as those with no interest in religion, regularly use this technique.

MSI occasionally spoke of an Ishaya Tradition, referring to the ancient, rich, and informal spiritual tradition from which this technique stems. It is important to emphasize that he was not referring to a tradition of beliefs or doctrines and using the Ascension Attitudes in no way affiliates anyone with the tradition. We teach a technique, not a tradition or religion or beliefs.
